Assistant manager Willie Donachie says he wants to succeed Joe Royle as Town boss. Donachie worked with Royle at Oldham, Everton and Manchester City before rejoining him at Portman Road in 2002 after a spell coaching at Sheffield Wednesday.

Departing boss Joe Royle says he almost quit Town last year after failing to win promotion through the play-offs but was persuaded to stay by chairman David Sheepshanks and his love of the club. Royle ended his three-and-a-half year reign at Portman Road yesterday by mutual consent.

Town are once again being linked with Manchester United reserve striker Mads Timm. Boss Joe Royle admitted interest in the 21-year-old Dane when the link was previously reported in February.

Northern Irish central defender Chris Casement was announced as this season's winner of the Dale Roberts Trophy for the Academy Player of the Year at the presentation night on Saturday. As reported by TWTD on Friday, Fabian Wilnis picked up the senior award.

Joe Royle admitted he will miss skipper Jim Magilton when the Northern Irishman leaves Portman Road over the summer. Magilton played his final game at Portman Road as the Blues defeated Derby 2-0.

Town boss Joe Royle was once again left bemoaning a poor refereeing decision after the Blues were denied an obvious penalty at Watford. Alan Lee was upended inside the area by Malky Mackay moments before Nicky Forster netted Town's equaliser but referee Colin Webster failed to award a spotkick.

Much-changed Town fell to a 2-1 defeat at Watford despite an improved display. Nicky Forster sandwiched his fifth goal of the season between two from Hornets' striker Darius Henderson, with the Blues denied what looked a certain penalty when Alan Lee was fouled by Malky Mackay.
